Whist travelling the plains of East Africa in the 1920s, Liberty buyer William Hayes Dorell discovered curious cotton fibers close to Lake Tana that sparked his imagination. Back on home soil, the silk-like threads were spun into lustrous form, screen printed with brilliant ink, and turned into a material that would change the textile industry forevermore.
Two beautifully scented lavender fish drawer scenters in a gift box. This takes a traditional item and gives it a bit of a quirky twist. Handmade in Nottinghamshire with a mix of Liberty Tana Lawn fabric and silk dupion, the "sardines" are filled with the most fragrant Provence lavender which lasts and lasts. Each sardine has a button eye.
Lavender has long been used to scent drawers and linen cupboards and is the traditional remedy to keep the moths at bay. It is also supposed to help you sleep.
These make a wonderful hostess present or indeed for anyone who loves lavender. The drawer scenters come in a presentation box, so are easy to wrap and send in the post.
